Astoria….

….Oregon where the Columbia River meets the sea.
Oh my goodness! What a wonderful place to be.
So much here to do and see, and there isn't time to go back and forth;
all of it is so very nice, oh, by the way, what about Waldorf?

Tomorrow we leave, across one of the bridges,
headed to Washington State, home of big ridges;
much looking forward to that great state,
now we'll see just how they rate. (right up there!)

Cannon Beach/Seaside....

.....Oregon, two of 'Ol Larrys favorite places,
he went there in the sixties, probably saw different faces;
if you go take time to walk on the beach, that would be nice for you,
there are big Sand Dollars and other interesting things too.

Bottom: And another one, how nice is this?

Tillamook…..

…..Oregon, between coastal mountains and the sea,
home of the famous Tillamook Cheese, and lots for you to see;
the beaches museums, and scenery galore,
welcome all to the Pacific shore.

The Naval Air Museum in a former blimp hangar,
has a few planes not flown for a long time in anger;
the Three Capes Scenic Drive takes in Cape Meares,
Garibaldi and Tillamook too, the trip could take years.

Pacific City….

….Oregon, another great beach place, where there is room
for Nestucca Bay to meet the Cape Kiwanda Dune,
and to top it all of there is Haystack Rock,
that's enough to see, all around the clock.

What great places we have seen, just the past few days,
it enough to put us in some kind of haze,
the sea and the sand, rivers, bays and capes,
what a wonderful world all of these makes.

Newport….

….on beautiful Yaquina Bay, what a wonderful sight,
it may look even better when viewed at night;
again, there are many things to see and do,
quite a few things that may interest you.

Abby likes lighthouses, and this one's a beaut,
her new hobby seems to be producing fruit;
Yaquina Head light another gem,
she just can't get enough of them.

Florence....

....Oregon, Heceta Head at the end of the dune,
where the coast continues, and more adventure comes soon,
the lighthouse at Heceta Head is in Devils Elbow State Park,
Abby and I visited, just on a lark.

The Sea Lion Caves, home to Stellar Seals,
home to families going to sea for meals,
the only colony in North America, that is the story,
you can see them here in all their glory.

Oregon Dunes….

….Oregon, if you like the beach,
put this place within your reach!
Forty miles long, sometimes wide measured in miles,
piled by the wind five hundred feet high in piles.

Ol' Larry went through here, way back when,
I'm pretty sure he'd go there again;
the very sight of this stretch of sand,
makes you wonder what's in the plan.

Top:  Satellite photo of a 25 mile stretch.

Bottom: This part is one that is piled high.

North Bend….

….Oregon, Coos County just another wonderful sight,
whenever the world was arranged the arranger got it right;
located adjacent to Coos Bay the town and Coos Bay the water,
and home of the Coquille Tribe proud son and daughter.

Seeing the sights, and there are many, takes up our time,
we just can't believe all that we see, it simply blows the mind;
this is the southern end of the Oregon Dunes, they're a National treasure,
we will show more tomorrow as we go on, at the pace known as leisure

Port Orford….

….Oregon, another wonderful place with so much,
there are beaches, rivers, more fishing and such;
but it's really a place where you can relax and rest,
for that Port Orford is one of the best.

We are enjoying this part of the world,
making memories for us, to be later unfurled;
such are the sights, sounds, and smell of the sea,
of course, I'm grateful to have Abby with me.

Brookings-Harbor….

….Oregon, two cities side by side,
both of them keep an eye on the tide,
spectacular scenery, kite flying too;
everyone like these places, including you.

What a trip this has turned out to be,
there really are a million places to see,
I guess that we better get going soon,
but, I wonder what this looks like with a full moon.
