Confederation Bridge..

9 miles of bridge

...PEI, the worlds longest bridge over ice covered water,
when it's cold enough, even sea water freezes as it oughta;
it took a long time to build, the piers go deep down,
and at the other end you're in a new Province and town.

It stretches from Prince Edward Island to...
..the New Brunswick shore, a good ride for you,
if you're walking or riding a bicycle here..
..there's a shuttle running over, you can get there.


Brrrrrr! now that's cold!

Summerside...

Recent waterfront development

...PEI, our last day on PEI, oh what a place,
always new things around the corner to put a smile on your face,
it's some kind of kingdom, this island ground,
and I've been pleased to have been around.

So off tomorrow to cross the bridge,
just to see what's beyond the next ridge;
but first Summerside - it's a real treat,
plenty here to see if you spend time on your feet.

...PEI, a stop along the way,
strange sights right here, better spend the day,
castles and mansions, haunted I might add,
after all of the "regular" stuff, thows me off just a tad.

But we're on our way to Summerside, we'll be there tomorrow,
then on across the Confederation Bridge, much to our sorrow;
that one long ride from here to there, we'll tell you all about it,
until then we'll castle tour, or whatever seems to fit.

Stanley Bridge....

...PEI, a small town, where the road turns south,
sorry Glen, no winter pictures, straight from the geezers mouth;
a friendly place, we've found here, a place where people stay,
they come up here for beaches, and to fish, or other types of play.

The southbound road will take us to other towns along the way,
before we hit that long, long bridge, hope it's the middle of the day;
we'll go to Summerside, a place I've heard about,
and when we get there, you know we'll be giving you a shout.

Avonlea Village...

Meagan Follows as Anne (with an E) of Green Gables

No trip to the island would be complete,
without a visit to Anne - boy is it neat!
The Town of Cavendish plays the host,
to an attraction - that offers the most.

True to the book, and the movies of course,
the Village is built, and enactors serve forth,
a living example of her life and time,
happy was I, to make this memory mine.

Prince Edward Island National Park...

A Beach on the Saint Lawrence Gulf

...PEI, on the north side of the island,
the sand has made piles in a band;
there's a long stretch, but narrow strip,
where more dunes and shore worth the trip.

It's quite a discovery for me, I did not know...
..that coming up here, would be such a show;
so I'm happy we came, it's not a long drive,
well, that and the ferry, but on this we thrive.

Charlottetown...

...PEI, the Provincial Capitol and major city,
and seen from across the inlet, sitting mighty pretty;
a historic place where importance has home,
but it's filled with politicians and places they roam.

Restored buildings where some people live,
in the "historic district" is reason to give...
...congratulations to the workers who did...
...their city proud; putting on the old lid.

Greenwich National Park...

...PEI, Canada's newest, and that's not all,
this a beauty, summer, winter, spring or fall;
the beaches and sand dunes, walkways and ponds,
pure northeastern scenery, no need for palm fronds.

Take a walk on the boards, see the dunes as they are,
and if it's open a night, you may see a shining star,
the Saint Lawrence Gulf waters just took a chance,
and moved all the sand here, while the waters just dance.

A quick note:  If you go to Google, Images and ask for Greenwich Prince Edward Island there are
a lot more photos than I have here - it's worth the trip.

Naufrage...

...PEI, pretty as a picture, some people say,
and it's a real great place to stop and spend a day;
the name's kind of odd, and the history of it too,
but that shouldn't matter to me, or to you.

Come take a look, if you like ocean views,
here's all you want and I know that's not news;
a few fishermen with their boats at the wharf here,
a small business place - it's where they buy beer.

Black Pond Bird Sanctuary...

...PEI, a lot of people enjoy seeing wildlife,
and I'm not talking about seeing your wife!
Birds are especially nice to see,
and it's important to just let them be.

Breeding grounds for many birds are going...
...being developed or given to seed sowing,
we really need to have those open spaces,
so birds can develop into their set races.

Fortune Harbour.....

....PEI, is a fantastic small town,
if you up here, they'll show you around;
but come in the warm months when the weather is nice,
or, come in the winter, to see snow and ice.

Bring your fishing pole or a kayak or two,
whatever you want, they have something for you.
It's quite a trip up here to see all this stuff,
but we'll keep going, we've not seen enough!

Brudenell....

...PEI, home to the best golf in Eastern Canada, here,
seashore golf and a Provincial Park, make it clear;
visitors come all summer long, to play and explore,
when asked if they've enjoyed themselves, the answer is sure.

So if you'd like to play a round, or maybe even two,
we've found the perfect spot for that, now it's up to you;
or maybe you'd rather hike, along the shore and woods,
well that's all here as well, Brundenell has got the goods.

Gaspereaux...

...PEI, a small village, but right on the shore,
fishing, as always, but maybe some more;
days in the sun, that might be nice,
but this is December, soon there'll be ice.

The town faces the east, has the morning sun,
but well before noon, the sun's almost done,
it will be dark sometime before four,
and darkness will linger for 14 hours more.

Little Sands....

...Prince Edward Island, we made it on the ferry,
nobody fell off and ride wasn't scary;
so we begin our tour with a sharp right turn,
on our trip to the island, and the gas sings "burn baby burn".

What a nice place this Little Sands is,
it nice and quiet, nothing is nobodies biz;
just relax, take in the sun and the sights,
just the moon and the stars at night, no lights.
