Kanab….

Utah...Did you watch Gunsmoke or The Lone Ranger,
the place they were filmed, is no longer a stranger;
Stagecoach, Daniel Boone and The Outlaw Josey Wales,
film makers brought this town some sales.

All were filmed here, in the small town,
how does "Little Hollywood" sound?
And the rocks and formations, petrified dunes,
the only thing missing is the sound of the loons.

Bryce Canyon National Park...

Eroded by freeze and thaw,
these rocks we hold in awe,

lakebeds eons ago, blown clean by the wind,
the worlds largest pothole there has ever been.

Isn't it amazing, how common we think,
just another hole in the road, into which we can sink;
the difference here is the very age,
not this years, but a very differenct stage.

Circleville....

....Utah, a place that's famour for, a legend of his own,

the childhood home of Robert Parker, who is better known,

as Butch Cassidy, he spent his childhood years here,

in the gold rush town of Circleville, who hold is memory dear.

There is still the river, it runs here east to west,

surrounded by mountains and at it's very best.

People are a shortage now, people moving on;

kind of like where I live, everyone is old or gone.

Marysvale....

...Utah.  Along the Paiute Range, that's where we are,
maybe off the beaten path, it's easy in a car.
This is what's left of a western gold rush place,
in the 1860's there must have been quite a pace.

There's still "gold in them thar hills" today,
tourists go and try their luck, it's a form of play,
along the little canyon walls, it's there in a small fleck,
so it's a lot better than nothin' - so, what the heck!

Salina.....

...Utah.  Founded because they found salt,

it a nice town, so who can find fault,

with the reasons that the town was born,

and the summers are so doggone warm.

Also they found coal deposits nearby,

in the 1800's an inexhaustable supply,

but it is no longer mined, it costs too much,

but they have cattle and turkeys and such.

Emery…..

….Utah, lots of fossils and dinosaur bones,
and materials left by pre-Columbian ones;
along with abandoned coal mines,
line the road, in these present times.

Lots of rock, dust and views here now,
makes the archaeological diggers say wow,
some people say it doesn't look like much,
but the value is great for science and such.

Fremont Junction....

...Utah, there ain't nobody here!
I told Abby, camping out, Abby said Oh Dear!
Poor old Abby just got the shakes,
she ain't sleeping, on the ground, with snakes!

I just told Abby I would tattle,
she don't like snakes with a rattle.
So we slept in the car,
the ground beats that, by far.

Clawson....

....Utah, the towns are getting smaller, all along the way,
and this is where we're headed, along the road today.
Clawson is an example of high desert life,
if it was me, I be lonely with no wife.

But, we wanted to see the county, that's what we will do,
you can't do that flying to big cities, getting coffee from some stew;  (stewardess)
so we're gonna drive along, and look at pretty things,
but if you try to call us out here, the phone never rings.

Price....

....Utah. Watch out for the dinosaur! Okay?
this isn't just one of those "another day",
we're headed to dry country here  in Price,
many fossils have been uncovered here, isn't that nice?

The land is old, and a little rough,
probably snakes too, had enough?
There is a research site and museum,
dino's galore, you ought to see 'em.

Spanish Fork.....

...Utah, looks like we're headed in the right direction,
that being, the map in my head is no reflection;
of anything right or wrong, but we're here now in time to see,
the trains and trucks moving goods for sea to sea.

This is a suburb or Provo and Orem, and of interest,
the site of the first Icelandic settlement in the west;   (or east, for that matter)
I guess they came here to get warm, or cold;
we're going into a different kind of country, it's old.

North Ogden...

...Utah, located at the base of Ben Lomond peak,
this city is a suburb, so to speak.
Gone from cattle ranches, to housing over the years,
it was fun to see high school sports, and listen to the cheers.

We're just north of Salt Lake City, and Ogden by the way,
looking at the Wasatch Range, what more need I say;
Ben Lomonds' rugged beauty, not easily surpassed,
would not want to climb up there, better through window glass.

Tremonton...

...Utah, just look at those peaks,
this is a place that needs noone who speaks...
...badly about it, because it thrives,
lots of activity in the State of bee hives.

A large manufacturing plant turns out cereal,
for our breakfasts that are good and real;
yes, this is the place that is the real deal,
on top of that bowls of Malt-o-Meal!
