....Vermont, history here! There's much to be told,
so many registered buildings, so many are old;
the entire downtown on the National Register of Historic places,
throw in the marble quarries, and we're off to the races.
More marble was mined in this area, for a while,
it was the major producer, measured by the mile;
the quarries gave out and the jobs disappeared,
but whole new businesses have since been reared.

Note: Rutland is also the birthplace of John Deere, although the implement/tractor business was in
Illinois, he invented the first steel plow.
